Soon after the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) named HealthInsight the Regional Extension Center (REC) of record for Nevada and Utah, GE Healthcare began a collaborative effort the parties plan to continue well into the future.

“We are delighted to collaborate with GE Healthcare to bring meaningful solutions that help our affiliated physicians improve coordination and effectiveness of care for their patients”

Funded by provisions in the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the not-for-profit HealthInsight organization and other REC programs are designed to assist primary care providers throughout the United States adopt and meaningfully use certified Electronic Medical Record (EMR) technology.

Because they aren't aligned with any particular vendor, HealthInsight can facilitate buying decisions that are truly in the best interest of the providers that rely upon them.

"Together, our long-term strategy, commitment, and portfolio of solutions and services directly align with the needs of small practice providers throughout HealthInsight's target market," said Jim Corrigan, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. "As part of GE's REC commitment, we plan to help HealthInsight clients reach their IT goals whether or not those involve GE equipment. It's part of our dedication to our customers and the market at large and we couldn't be more pleased that HealthInsight's vision aligns so closely with ours."

Among the products GE hopes to educate HealthInsight clients about is its latest entry into the small physician office market, Centricity® Advance. A true Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that combines EMR, practice management and patient portal modules, Centricity Advance addresses the varying challenges facing today's small, independent practices by offering modern technology that is simple to use and even simpler to deploy. GE's educational efforts are just one piece of a program designed to help RECs deliver on their goals.

"We are delighted to collaborate with GE Healthcare to bring meaningful solutions that help our affiliated physicians improve coordination and effectiveness of care for their patients" said Dr. Jerry Reeves, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs for HealthInsight. "Timely sharing of important health information between patients and their doctors is critical to restoring health and improving the value of our investments in healthcare."
