Omnicell's medication management systems selected by Sentara Healthcare

Omnicell, Inc., (Nasdaq: OMCL) a leading provider of system solutions to acute healthcare facilities, today announced that Sentara Healthcare has selected Omnicell OmniRx® automated medication dispensing systems and Omnicell's SecureVault™ to monitor and streamline medication management throughout its facilities. Sentara serves a patient population of more than two million, and chose to replace its current vendor with Omnicell for its solution reliability and customer service.

Sentara Healthcare is comprised of a network of eight acute care hospitals that have received recognition by U.S. News & World Report as one of "America's Best Hospitals" numerous times and also ranked first in Modern Healthcare's 2010 list of top integrated healthcare networks.

"Omnicell's best-in-class products are regularly updated, maintained and easily expanded to match the goals of our growing healthcare system," said Tim Jennings, vice president of pharmacy at Sentara Healthcare. "Our physicians, nurses and pharmacists find Omnicell solutions easy-to-use and highly intuitive, to help ensure their patients receive the right medications without error."

Sentara chose the award-winning OmniRx automated dispensing systems to automate patient medication management for improving patient safety and efficiency of the drug administration process. In addition, Omnicell's SecureVault technology is designed to protect patients with the combination of cabinet security with medication surveillance software to monitor controlled substances to track and identify drug diversion.

"Sentara Healthcare is a valuable community resource for millions of residents in Virginia and North Carolina," said J. Christopher Drew, Omnicell senior vice president, field operations. "Any patient that enters a Sentara facility will have confidence that their medication has been monitored, secured and dispensed from the most advanced and proven medication management systems available in the industry."
