AccuNurse (www.accunurse.com) announces its leadership role with 'meaningful use' requirements by taking its product roadmap a significant step further toward helping long-term care providers prepare for an increasingly competitive market that will reward clinical outcomes. AccuNurse is achieving this in three ways:

  • Achieve Data-Driven Clinical Outcomes To Maximize Profit: AccuNurse will positively impact specific 2014 directives from the HIT Policy Committee of the ONC; and the product roadmap is going well beyond just meeting "meaningful use" criteria by helping customers achieve data-driven clinical outcomes that will maximize customer profits.
  • Align with Certification Goals: The AccuNurse product roadmap is on course to integrate the core features and requirements of the 2014 goals, including CPOE, eMAR and eTAR, to fully align with "meaningful use" criteria.
  • Provide Clinical Guidance and Leadership: AccuNurse will continue its leadership role in these evolving issues through our clinical solutions experts who provide strategic guidance to its customer base; as well as the involvement of its VP of Engineering, as Chair of the Interoperability Working Group of the IT Committee within NASL (National Association for the Support of Long-Term Care).

"Our customers drive the product roadmap and that's why AccuNurse is taking a proactive role with 'meaningful use' criteria as part of the certified electronic health record," said Jim Rock, president of AccuNurse. "While this is not yet a requirement of the long-term care industry, our product and solutions roadmap is going beyond the anticipated criteria to provide data-driven clinical outcomes that will directly impact revenue and competitive stance. This is a directive of our customers and what the market will ultimately demand and we will be at the forefront of solving these challenges for long-term care providers.

The company has already taken steps to refocus its business model to that of a senior-level clinical consultancy, led by Maureen Ladouceur, RN as VP of clinical solutions. "Our goal is to provide customers with a strong focus on clinical informatics in the long-term care sector," said Ladouceur. "This comprises guidance from our clinical solutions team, process workflow expertise as it relates to best practices and the power of our voice technology, which enables caregivers to deliver precision, customized care to each individual in their charge."

The positive clinical and business impacts of AccuNurse are being realized in the industry. According to Mary Evans, COO of Covenant Care, "We are naturally resistant to giving up our current paperwork systems and this shift requires a psychological change. In using AccuNurse, we've realized it is effectively changing the culture within our facilities, going well beyond ADL data capture and facilitating a new mindset toward real-time data and having live remote access to that data. This is crucial as we continue to move toward the paperless requirements of 2014."

More details about the evolution of the AccuNurse product and solutions roadmap will be announced at the American Health Care Association (AHCA) national convention in Long Beach, California, October 10-13, 2010 and will continue throughout 2011.
