Business and general aviation aircraft owners, passengers and crew will enjoy additional peace of mind and an added layer of protection as MedAire, an International SOS company, and Control Risks, through its joint venture with International SOS, join forces to offer 24/7 medical, travel and security advice and assistance via a single phone number and web portal.

“MedAire and Control Risks bring more than 30 years of experience serving the aviation industry, including a proven record in helping travelers manage medical and security risks throughout their journey”

These integrated services will provide aviation clients the ability to contact security specialists 24 hours a day for up-to-date security and safety information; timely and expert advice on managing everyday travel risks; and access to emergency evacuation support.

"Each and every security event has a medical component to it, whether physical or emotional in nature," explains Control Risks' CEO Richard Fenning. "Therefore, every crisis management plan needs an emergency response component for 'real-life' events. This includes seeking advice prior to departure to ensure crewmembers are able to mitigate risks—and also, should an incident occur, that they have access to immediate, feet-on-the-street assistance."

Above and beyond the in-flight medical care members receive from MedAire's 24/7 MedLink Global Response Center, these new services will provide real-time advice and assistance to crew and VIPs at their destination to help cope with incidents as they arise—from minor personal security queries, to major unforeseen issues such as natural disasters or terrorist activities. If necessary, an incident management team of medical and security specialists will be deployed to the local area to assess the situation and liaise with local specialists on the ground.

The joint capabilities of this new partnership include offices, global response centers and projects spanning five continents and 150 countries, including the:

  • New Delhi Global Information Center, which monitors developments worldwide and analyzes threats.
  • London Global Security Center, which offers 24/7 urgent and non-critical advice to clients.
  • Dubai, London, Paris, Philadelphia and Singapore Regional Security Centers, which are on standby to deploy evacuation and other assistance operations.
  • Arizona and Singapore Global Response Centers, which are clients' first stop to receive immediate medical, travel and security advice and assistance before the flight, or at the destination.
  • MedLink Global Response Center, where doctors manage 18,000 in-flight medical cases annually.

"MedAire and Control Risks bring more than 30 years of experience serving the aviation industry, including a proven record in helping travelers manage medical and security risks throughout their journey," says Grant Jeffery, CEO, MedAire. "Together, our combined team of more than 900 doctors and 200 security specialists, who understand the remote in-flight environment, will help members cope with medical and security issues as they arise."
