EMP named #4 on 'Top 100 Places to Work in Healthcare'

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Emergency Medicine Physicians, Ltd. has been named in the Top 100 Places to Work in Healthcare in the United States by Modern Healthcare magazine for the third year consecutively.  Only 15 companies nationwide have had that distinction.  EMP, whose headquarters are located on Dressler Road in Canton, was ranked number four among companies with 100-999 employees, and number 13 overall in the nation for all participating healthcare companies.  EMP provides Emergency Medicine-trained, Board-Certified physicians to staff and manage emergency departments across the country.

EMP was founded in 1995 by three local physicians and now employs over 750 people (320 locally) providing emergency services to 59 hospitals in 12 states.

Dominic J. Bagnoli, MD, one of the founding physicians and now CEO of EMP said "I'm thrilled that EMP was named #4 this year and that we placed in the Top 100 three years in a row.  I attribute this directly to our employees' strong values and team work."

Modern Healthcare's Best Places to Work in Healthcare Program recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level based on their excellence in areas from economic development to employee retention.  Information from both the employer and employees is collected and the program is open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers) with at least 25 employees.  Employers must provide information about their company policies and practices, benefits, and demographics to be considered in the top 100.

The ranking of U.S. healthcare companies was announced in a highly anticipated Gala held in Dallas, Texas on October 18, 2010.  Over 320 healthcare companies participated in this year's survey process and 450 people representing them were present for one of the industry's biggest events.  Ranking is largely determined by employee ratings of their companies via an in-depth set of questions in 8 core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.

" 'Modern Healthcare's Best Places to Work in Healthcare' program identifies and recognizes healthcare organizations that have successfully built workplace excellence and enabled employees to perform at their optimal level. By sharing the best practices and innovations in the workplace settings, we hope to enable others to develop progressive human resources strategies critical to creating and sustaining the best healthcare system for patients," stated Fawn Lopez, Publisher of Modern Healthcare magazine.

Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a PA-based firm that administers "Best Places to Work" Programs nationwide.  Modern Healthcare conducted this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level.
