United Medical Systems announces the acquisition of Breast Surgical Services, Inc., a Woodlands, Texas-based company for an undisclosed cash amount. The acquisition of Breast Surgical Services will expand UMS' stereotactic operations throughout Southern Texas.
United Medical Systems is an international leader in shared medical services providing mobile services to over 625 hospitals and medical centers in 32 states, Canada and South America. Over the past 12 years, UMS has performed over 100,000 breast biopsies. Other mobile services include extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy and laser treatment of BPH.
Medical facilities taking advantage of UMS mobile services see significant cost reductions as they do not have to purchase expensive equipment or provide technical support. System utilization is five to ten times higher than equipment owned by the hospital. UMS continuously upgrades and provides the latest state-of-the-art equipment.
