The Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is pleased to announce that it has earned full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). Accreditation from AAHRPP indicates that an organization has consistently demonstrated a high level of ethical standards and practices when conducting research involving human subjects.
AAHRPP's accreditation process is a voluntary program that sets uniform, high standards that exceed minimal federal requirements for clinical research. To be accredited by AAHRPP, organizations must provide tangible evidence – through policies, procedures, practices, and peer review – of their commitment to scientifically and ethically sound research and to continuous improvement.
"Discovering new information through scientific research and using it to improve the health of our patients and community are fundamental to the missions of HCMC and MMRF. Our newly acquired AAHRPP accreditation shows that our institution and its investigators adhere to the highest community standards for assuring the privacy and well-being of those participating in our clinical research studies," said Paul Pentel, MD, MMRF President.
With accreditation from AAHRPP, MMRF joins a premier group of just 230 organizations worldwide that have received AAHRPP accreditation.
