TeamHealth recently expanded its presence in Alabama through a strategic collaboration with DCH Regional Medical Center and the physicians of North River Emergency Physicians (NREP), the physician group that currently serves the emergency department of DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala. On April 28, 2011, TeamHealth will commence services for this emergency department that cares for approximately 70,000 patients annually.

"TeamHealth has earned a stellar reputation for supporting emergency physicians and providing the infrastructure and administrative support to reduce patient wait times and improve patient satisfaction," said Dr. Jeremy Pepper, who has been with NREP for five years and is serving as interim medical director of DCH Regional Medical Center's emergency department for TeamHealth.

"Our ED has been blessed with caring physicians and nursing staff who possess excellent clinical skills," DCH Regional Medical Center Administrator Bill Cassels said. "I am pleased our physicians have chosen to partner with TeamHealth. This collaborative relationship will afford the emergency physician group — as well as our entire ED staff — administrative expertise related to efficiency and customer service, which will ultimately benefit our emergency patients and the community."

"We are excited about this collaborative partnership with NREP," said Stephen G. Holtzclaw, MD, FACEP, TeamHealth Southeast president and chief medical officer. "We share their commitment to supporting the hospital's goals and creating a physician-led culture that enhances physicians' ability to deliver high-quality emergency care to the Tuscaloosa community."
