FDA clears Sound Surgical's new PowerX Lipo System

Sound Surgical Technologies, a leading manufacturer and distributor of body shaping technologies,  announced today that the PowerX™ Lipo System has been cleared for use by the Food and Drug Administration. A new power-assisted liposuction device, the PowerX System combines a unique rotational handpiece and multiple user settings to allow physicians to utilize the system for a wide array of body contouring applications - from gentle, superficial work to more aggressive, large volume fat removal. These features also offer physicians optimal control during a procedure and reduced aspiration time and physician fatigue.

I did not think it was possible to exceed 1000cc/min with smooth results, but the new system did exactly that with excellent results.  I look forward to using it in more challenging cases," said Dr. E. The unique rotational motion generated by the system allows physicians to remove fatty tissue all the way around the cannula, rather than just above or below the ports. The powered handpiece speeds up traditional liposuction cases, but unlike other power-assisted devices, the handpiece is very lightweight and vibration is minimal. The PowerX System fits conveniently on top of the VentX® Infiltration and Aspiration System by Sound Surgical Technologies, and the PowerX handpiece is vented providing continuous, uninterrupted suction. A wide range of speed and angle settings allows the physician to tailor the treatment to each patient's needs.
