MetCare wins South Florida Business Journal Excellence in Health Care Award

Metropolitan Health Networks, Inc. ("Metropolitan" or "MetCare") (NYSE AMEX: MDF), a leading provider of health care services in Florida, today announced that the company was the recipient of the South Florida Business Journal Excellence in Health Care Award presented on October 6th.

Health care professionals gathered at the Westin Fort Lauderdale as winners were announced in eight categories: CEO, Community Outreach, Educator, Employer, Health Care Company, Innovator, Hospital and Citizenship Award. The event was attended by finalists, their colleagues, and local business leaders from the area. A loud cheer was heard as Metropolitan's name was announced as the winner of the 2011 Health Care Company award.

Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Michael Earley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Metropolitan Health Networks, Inc., stated, "It is an honor for me to be among the many health care professionals in our community who work hard every day to make a difference in the lives of so many Floridians.
