The Company of Biologists is pleased to announce a mobile-optimized web interface for its journals Development, Journal of Cell Science, The Journal of Experimental Biology and Disease Models & Mechanisms. The Company's recently launched open access journal, Biology Open, will also be available as a mobile-optimized website in 2012.

"We recognised that an increasing number of our readers want to access journal content on mobile devices" said Dr Claire Moulton, Publisher, "We've now optimised our journals for the smaller screen and users can now access all articles quickly and easily, wherever they are."

The new mobile web interface, which is powered by the HighWire Press electronic publishing system, provides the following benefits:

  • Quick access to all current, archived and advance-publication journal content
  • Improved navigation for smaller screens
  • Simplified search page
  • Email-forwarding functionality
  • Personalization and authentication sign-in options
  • Clear journal branding

Users accessing the journal sites through a mobile device will be detected and automatically redirected to the mobile-optimized web interface. Access control will be the same as on the main journal websites. An institution's subscription will give users access to all content through the institution's WiFi connection, with the added ability for users to access content when off campus using a simple authentication process.
