CryoConcepts, LP is announcing the introduction of the first disposable, nitrous oxide-based cryosurgical device to physicians in the US and abroad. The pen-shaped device is called CryOmega® and tests have shown the unit is clinically effective and provides pinpoint accuracy at freezing temperatures of -89C.
CryOmega has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration and is CE Marked, allowing the device to be sold to physicians and health care providers around the globe. The unit consists of a pen-shaped housing and a nitrous oxide cartridge that delivers more than 30 five seconds sprays. The entire unit is disposable, low cost, simple-to-use, and non-flammable.
R. Sam Niedbala, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder of CryoConcepts said, “This device is an important development for thousands of physicians who want to use cryosurgery but want to avoid the hassles of using liquid nitrogen.” He added, “Initial response from physicians has been tremendous. Cryosurgery is most effective at temperatures below -60C. The CryOmega is a breakthrough becoming the first portable yet disposable device that delivers a spray at -89C (-122F). It is clear that the market was looking for a easy-to-use device with our lower freezing temperature.”
Since the official launch in 2011 the CryOmega is being used by physicians in the USA, Australia, UAE and all major market across Europe. Specialists and primary care physicians that are not satisfied with the clinical performance of the currently available aerosol based systems, or hesitate to invest in more expensive systems, have now access to affordable, professional cryosurgery.
