Tom Koutsoumpas, Senior Vice President of ML
Strategies, is being honored by Capital Caring for his efforts to
improve hospice services in Washington, D.C. Mr. Koutsoumpas will be
presented with the Distinguished Advocacy Partner Award at the fifth
annual "Hospice Comes to Washington" event on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
Capital Caring is an organization that offers comprehensive,
compassionate care to patients and families who may need help dealing
with a serious, progressive illness. The annual "Hospice Comes to
Washington" event works to raise awareness of the benefits of hospice
and palliative care, and to ensure that the seriously ill in the
Washington, D.C. area get the high quality hospice care they deserve.
Mr. Koutsoumpas has been a strong advocate for hospice care in the
United States from the very beginning. He worked to help create the
Medicare Hospice Benefit which is now a critical part of Medicare.
Mr. Koutsoumpas is Executive Director of the Mintz Levin Center for
Health Law & Policy and Senior Vice President of ML Strategies, a
consulting affiliate of Mintz,
Levin, Cohn, Ferris Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.
Mr. Koutsoumpas also co-founded and now co-chairs the Coalition to
Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC). C-TAC is a national, nonprofit,
non-partisan alliance of patient and consumer advocacy groups, health
care providers, private sector stakeholders, faith-based organizations,
and health care payers with the shared mission to help provide all
Americans, especially the sickest and most vulnerable, with
comprehensive, high quality, patient-centered care that is consistent
with their goals and values and honors their dignity.
