Krames StayWell (KSW) has announced the newest release of its award-winning patient education program Krames On-Demand Version 6.0. This release of Krames On-Demand includes a host of new features including secure email utilizing the ONC's Direct Project, implementation of a Google Search Appliance for faster and more relevant searching for busy clinicians, and a new content export module which allows users to export their Krames StayWell content collection from Krames On-Demand into their Electronic Medical Record and Patient Portal. "The Content Export functionality was created to provide our clients the best of both worlds," explained Dave Bennett, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Krames StayWell. "Krames On-Demand (KOD) was created to facilitate the patient education process and the functionality inherent in KOD is not found in your major EHR systems. Yet, in certain environments in the healthcare ecosystem, it makes sense to access the content directly from the EHR or Patient Portal which will be important for Stage 2 of Meaningful Use. Now with Content Exporter, our users can have both, and still adhere to current meaningful use criteria.

Krames On-Demand v6 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as EHR Modules on March 24, 2012 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable eligible provider and hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

"It was important that we launched Krames On-Demand Version 6.0 with ONC-ATCB Certification to ensure we help our clients in their efforts to qualify for Meaningful Use incentives," added Mr. Bennett. "We also wanted to assure our clients using Krames On-Demand Version 5.0 that they can update to Krames On-Demand Version 6.0 and still meet the certification criteria that Krames On-Demand 5.0 addressed."

The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria and EHR Modules meet one or more - but not all - of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for either eligible provider or hospital technology. "CCHIT is pleased to be testing and certifying products so that companies are now able to offer these products to providers who wish to purchase and implement certified EHR technology and achieve meaningful use in time for the 2011-2012 incentives," said Karen M. Bell, M.D., M.S.S., Chair, CCHIT.
