The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) now offers digital access to its official peer-reviewed journals with the introduction of iPad® editions for Strength and Conditioning Journal and Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. The journals of the NSCA are published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

The two new NSCA journal apps for the iPad are now available to test drive at the NSCA's 35th Annual National Conference in Providence, RI, July 11-14, 2012. "We are thrilled to introduce these NSCA iPad apps to our members," comments NSCA Founder Boyd Epley, M.Ed, CSCS,*D, FNSCA, RSCC*E. "Each app is an awesome tool utilizing the latest cutting-edge mobile technology. They provide an exciting way for strength and conditioning professionals to access essential information in the NSCA journals."

Essential Strength and Conditioning Updates, Delivered to Your iPad
Visit the iTunes App Store now to download the apps for Strength and Conditioning Journal (SCJ), the bimonthly journal of practical applications and experience; and Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (JSCR), the monthly journal of scientific and applied research. Members of NSCA rely on these two complementary resources to learn about the latest scientific advances—and to gain the perspective to integrate evidence-based knowledge into their work with clients.

The NSCA journal apps, beginning with the June editions, deliver every issue of SCJ and JSCR in a state-of-the art digital format for easy browsing and great readability. Each issue is delivered directly to your iPad, allowing you to download the full contents to read at your convenience and save to your library for future reference. During an initial trial period, users can download the NSCA journal Apps for limited-time free full access to the current issues.

The app also provides a number of enhanced features, such as the ability to share articles and content via email.

The editors of SCJ and JSCR are developing content for the iPad's dynamic video and multimedia capabilities. Readers will be able to instantly see and hear the experts demonstrate their techniques, embedded directly into the article you're reading. The June issue of SCJ includes video demonstrations of sport-specific conditioning for rock climbing and integrating postural and stability exercises into the functional warm-up.

Videos, Podcasts and Other New Features
Other new features include a podcast to accompany each new issue of SCJ featuring leading trainers and experts discussing the latest research and evidence-based techniques. The June SCJ podcast, noted expert Erin Fidler discusses training considerations for people with sickle cell trait. To mark the launch of the new iPad Apps, SCJ is bringing back the popular "Point-Counterpoint" column from former NSCA President Lee E. Brown, EdD, CSCS*D, FNSCA, FACSM, who introduces hot topics in the field, such as the June issue's provoking topic, "Should You Consume or Recommend the Use of Energy Drinks?"
