Hundreds of health professionals to make their voices heard on a range of public health issues

Hundreds of health professionals will descend upon Sydney next week to make their voice heard on a range of public health issues (October 31 – November 3).

They will be attending the be active 2012 conference, hosted by Sports Medicine Australia where topics will focus on getting active, staying active and participating safely.

Sports Medicine Australia Chief Executive Officer, Nello Marino said this major international event will showcase the latest research in these fields and encourage healthier practices.

“be active 2012 will offer health professionals an opportunity to sharpen and expand their knowledge with the most recent findings and progressive methods of prevention, treatment and management of a range of health concerns and issues,” said Mr Marino.

“Conference delegates will also have access to numerous international speakers who lead the world in their respective fields and will shed light on cutting edge practices and research in sport and physical activity participation.

“Topics catering for every health interest possible will be available including sedentary behaviour in children and adults, patterns of physical activity, physical activity in people with disability or chronic illness, supplementation and doping, active transport, energy balance, workplace sitting and many adverse health conditions.

“be active 2012 can only help to inspire a more active and injury free environment for all delegates and their future patients.

“Through the conference’s findings we also hope to provide guidance to health promoters and policy makers to develop physical activity and injury prevention policies in order to achieve healthier outcomes,” said Mr Marino.

be active 2012 will be held from October 31 to November 3, 2012 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

More than 1,200 delegates will be attending with over 1,000 presentations being delivered.
