The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), the leading professional association for informatics professionals, has joined AmericanEHR Partners as a content provider, joining more than 20 professional societies that support the free online resource.

AmericanEHR Partners provides comprehensive information to support clinicians in the selection and use of electronic health records (EHR) in order to improve health care delivery. It was founded by the American College of Physicians (ACP) and Cientis Technologies.

"AMIA is one of the leading medical informatics groups and brings a rich array of high quality content and expertise in health information technology to AmericanEHR Partners," said Michael S. Barr, MD, FACP, MBA, who leads ACP's Medical Practice, Professionalism & Quality division. "As a content partner on AmericanEHR Partners, AMIA will help us ensure that our users can find an array of trusted content that is relevant to them as they adopt and use health IT."

AmericanEHR content providers are not-for-profit organizations with expertise in health care informatics that create neutral educational content to support selection, adoption, and use of EHRs by health care providers and their practice teams.

"AMIA is heavily invested in applied and operational informatics education supporting clinicians," said Kevin M. Fickenscher, MD, president and CEO, AMIA. "AMIA's partnership with AmericanEHR is a perfect fit for outreach and education efforts."
