EO2 Concepts develops innovative dressing for difficult-to-heal wounds

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

EO2® Concepts has developed an innovative dressing for difficult-to-heal wounds that is as easy to apply as a Band-Aid®. OxySpur™ Oxygen Diffusion Dressings will allow wound patients, their families and caregivers to provide state-of-the-art oxygen therapy to their wounds with dressings that can be applied in the convenience of their own homes. Until now, it was necessary for a highly skilled clinician to re-apply a multi-layer advanced wound dressing. The new dressing line is available with launch markets including North and South Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Chicago, Illinois and Indianapolis, Indiana.

"We are proud to offer wound patients across the country a therapy that increases their independence and makes caring for their wounds easier," said EO2® Concepts President Joe Moffett . "The development of OxySpur™ is an important step in transforming the current treatment of wound care and lowering costs within our healthcare system."

OxySpur™ works by evenly diffusing oxygen to the wound using a highly absorbent and moisture absorbent bandage, providing the most effective environment for healing. The new dressing was designed to complement and enhance the TransCu O2® tissue oxygenation system that was also developed by EO2®.

The TransCu O2® is a simple-to-use and easy-to-administer therapy that provides a continuous supply of low-flow pure oxygen to treat a variety of lower limb wound types such as venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and pressure ulcers.  Oxygen-based therapies have been proven effective in treating chronic wounds, yet current therapeutic approaches do not allow for 24-hour a day wound treatment.  The TransCu O2® device is lightweight and fully portable.  Its advanced technology allows for the constant monitoring and automatic flow adjustments necessary for ensuring the efficacious delivery of therapeutic oxygen flow to the wound site.

Chronic lower limb wounds are a complex problem and a leading cause of disability. These wounds impact overall disease burden, quality of life, activities of daily living, and healthcare costs.  The continuous diffusion of oxygen therapy provided by the TransCu O2® has been proven to improve patient outcomes, shorten the healing cycle, and reduce pain and scarring while bettering the patient's quality of life.  These advanced medical outcomes can subsequently lower costs to treat difficult-to-heal wounds.
