Numotion, the complex wheelchair company committed to serving the lifelong needs of people through individualized health and mobility solutions, has partnered with The ALS Association to offer support and enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis.  For unknown reasons, veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general population.  There is no cure, and only one drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) modestly extends survival.

As a Premier-Level national partner, Numotion will be supporting various venues at The Association, including the Walk to Defeat ALS®, which raises funds from Walk events across the nation to sustain patient care and support ALS research. Association chapters will have the opportunity to collaborate with local Numotion offices for Walks and other activities.

"We are committed to supporting The ALS Association's chapters and the critical services they provide to those they serve through our network of local branches," said Scott Lopez, Executive Vice President of Sales. "Strengthening this commitment by becoming a Premier-Level National Partner will increase our ability to collaborate with The Association and their chapters to expand services and create new solutions in the fight against ALS."

"We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Numotion on both the chapter and national level," said Jane H. Gilbert, President & CEO at The ALS Association. "The company has been a longtime supporter of The ALS Association and has served the mobility needs of people living with Lou Gehrig's Disease."

Numotion will also provide support at The Association's annual National ALS Advocacy Day and Public Policy Conference as a Platinum-Level sponsor and as an exhibitor and presenter at the ALS Expo, which takes place in Washington, D.C. on May 9, 2014. In addition, the company will serve as a Presenting Sponsor of The Association's National Clinical Conference scheduled for November 6 – 8, 2014.
