FamilyCord, a subsidiary of California Cryobank, now provides direct cord blood and cord tissue services to Venezuelan families and has assumed management of clients of Cordon de Vida, one of Venezuela's largest cord blood banks. FamilyCord has already been processing and storing Cordon de Vida's cord blood units at their state-of-the-art facility in Los Angeles, California.

"We have developed a wonderful working relationship with the Cordon de Vida team over the years and look forward to continuing to help grow the organization," says Richard Jennings, President of FamilyCord. "We are very pleased to be able to expand the options for cord blood and tissue banking to all Venezuelan families."

In order to support the growth in the stem cell market in Venezuela, FamilyCord has doubled their Los Angeles cryogenic storage capacity and space. During the facility growth, FamilyCord has remained focused on their mission to provide the highest quality stem cell services guided by dedicated customer focus, unmatched excellence, and innovative leadership.

Perhaps most indicative of this mission is FamilyCord's specially designed collection kit. FamilyCord's scientifically engineered collection kit is OSHA compliant and provides more than ten hours of protection (versus the 30 minutes of standard collection kits).

"Awareness of the clinical benefits of cord blood stem cells continues to grow," explains Jennings. "In 2014, the number of treatable conditions has risen to nearly 80 diseases and transplants using cord blood stem cells has reached more than 30,000 transplants worldwide."
