Researchers receive Presidential Recognition Awards at AIUM 2014 Annual Convention

Steven Goldstein, MD, President of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), presented Presidential Recognition Awards to David Bahner, MD, RDMS, Bryann Bromley, MD, and Glynis Harvey, CAE, at the AIUM 2014 Annual Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. This award honors exceptional service to the AIUM and to the ultrasound community. Its recipients are extremely active in contributing to the growth and development of medical ultrasound.

David Bahner, MD, received recognition and praise for his unwavering desire to further undergraduate medical student education with ultrasound, as evidenced by his key role in developing our medical student education portal on our website. Dr Goldstein cited Bahner's possession of 3 qualities: energy, passion, and impatience. Dr Bahner is chair of both the Ultrasound in Medical Education Interest Group and the Membership Committee. He has served as a member of the AIUM Board of Governors and has been the chair of the Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound Community, in addition to several other committee appointments over the years.

Bryann Bromley, MD, was honored for her exceptional contributions as a leader in multiple key areas over the years. Dr Goldstein cited "her calm effectiveness at working with people and her tireless willingness to pitch in and take on assignments" as well deserving of presidential recognition. She has exhibited her leadership as a member of the Board of Governors, and has been chair to several committees including the Obstetric Ultrasound Community, and the Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council. She will be the scientific program chair for the combined AIUM/World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology meeting in 2015, for which preparations are already well under way.

Glynis Harvey, CAE, was recognized for her contribution and service to the AIUM. Dr Goldstein noted that "the growth and maturity Ms Harvey has displayed over the years resulted in her being named to the newly created position of deputy chief executive officer this year." He further congratulated Ms Harvey on her newly acquired credential of certified association executive (CAE).
