CareConnectors, VRI develop new software framework to provide mobile health application

CareConnectors™, developers of the PatientGraph™ Platform and VRI (Valued Relationships, Inc.) today announced they are developing a new software framework that will provide mobile health application developers with a unified, validated, monitoring data sharing and exchange interface for home telehealth monitoring.

The launch of Apple's HealthKit for mobile application development presents new security, transport, storage and regulatory compliance challenges for managing healthcare data. Protected Health Information ("PHI") must be transported, shared, exchanged and stored in compliance with the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act of 1996.

Mobile application developers will be able to use PatientGraph software framework developed jointly developed by CareConnectors and VRI to transport, share and exchange validated, sensitive home monitoring health data (PHI) in a secure, HIPAA compliant manner with health providers. In addition, developers will benefit from having home monitoring data carefully reviewed by nurses at VRI to insure that data is of high quality before the data is shared with providers.

"With HealthKit arriving from Apple, mobile application opportunities involving home telehealth monitoring can make a significant contribution to reducing hospital readmission, increasing clinical quality measures and improving overall patient outcomes," explained Dr. Sanjay Patil, founder and CEO of CareConnectors. "Instead of mobile application developers trying to integrate with over 1,000 different EMRs and 1000s of different home telehealth monitoring hardware devices, VRI and CareConnectors are providing a unified, quality checked, data exchange interface that lets application developers focus on their products instead of becoming home monitoring data integrators or telehealth device porting engineers."

Rhonda Willingham, Senior Vice President, VRI explains, "Lack of visibility to validated telehealth monitoring data significantly limits the ability for providers to intervene in a timely and effective manner, especially for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart failure and COPD. At VRI, we have worked hard over the past 20 years to provide unique monitoring solutions for our clients - including our 110,000 plus current clients. We believe the PatientGraph framework from CareConnectors and VRI gives patients and healthcare providers and partners new ways to ensure that high quality telehealth data is accessible and actionable as well as secure and compliant."
