Capital BlueCross will recognize four Pennsylvania businesses with awards for excellence in worksite wellness during a ceremony on Dec. 9 from 9-11 a.m. at the Country Club of Harrisburg.
The four 2014 Capital BlueCross Worksite Wellness Award recipients and their categories are: Volvo Group North America of Allentown (major segment, first place); Utz Quality Foods, Inc. of Hanover (major segment, runner up); Fortna, Inc. of West Reading (large group); and McKonley & Asbury, LLP of Camp Hill (small group). The recipients were selected based on innovativeness, creativity and implementation of programs and resources that work to improve the health of their workforce.
"These winning companies show incredible commitment to improving the culture of health in the workplace, and providing their employees with the necessary resources to lead healthier lives," said Tracy Onorofsky, Capital BlueCross senior vice president of Commercial Group Sales. "This is particularly important as both consumers and businesses are striving to reduce their health care costs. As a partner in health, Capital BlueCross is extremely impressed with the dedication to worksite wellness that the four winning companies, and all of our employer group customers who applied for these awards, are exhibiting."
Capital BlueCross holds its Worksite Wellness Awards program annually. A major eligibility requirement is that an employer completes the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) Employee Health Management Best Practices Scorecard in collaboration with Mercer, a leading global provider of employer health management programming consulting. This assessment evaluates the effectiveness of employers' Employee Health Management programs based on the extent they incorporate best practices, or effective methods for garnering positive health outcomes.
This year's ceremony will include an in-depth overview of the award program's application and judging process, presented by the Capital BlueCross Health Education and Wellness team.
