DACO launches advanced optical shutter, rotary solenoid device pairings for medical device applications

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Pairings are as much as 50% more power efficient and twice as cost effective as alternate shutter solutions

DACO Instruments, part of the Alinabal Group, announces the global launch of its advanced optical shutter and rotary solenoid device pairings. Combined, the technologies provide industry-leading power efficiency and customization flexibility with superior reliability and cost-effectiveness.

The advanced optical shutters and rotary solenoid device pairings are used to provide highly precise blocking, unblocking and modulation of beams of natural or UV light for a wide range of applications including:

  • Medical Device (ophthalmology, dentistry, etc.)
  • Thermal & Infrared Imaging (night vision goggles, preventative maintenance cameras, etc.)
  • Spectrometers

Superior Reliability & Cost Effectiveness

DACO rotary solenoids are up to 25% more reliable than linear solenoid technologies. DACO´s rotary solenoids can match the advanced reliability of IRIS shutter technologies but are up to twice as cost-effective.

"Applications that use DACO technology often demand extreme reliability," explained Dhaval Desai, Global Business Development Manager at DACO. "Our demonstrated precision engineering over the past 75 years has made DACO technology a preferred option for high-performance applications such as the equipment used in past and upcoming Mars exploration missions. We pride ourselves on meeting or exceeding even the most demanding reliability challenges."

Market-Leading Power Efficiency

DACO's advanced optical shutter and rotary solenoid device pairings also lead the market in power efficiency. DACO spring or bi-stable solenoids consume up to 50% less energy than IRIS shutters and as much as 15% less energy than competing rotary solenoid technologies.

Highly Customizable

Diverse Technology Options

DACO provides both spring format (for applications that prioritize reliability) and bi-stable format (for applications that prioritize energy efficiency) shutters and rotary solenoids. Both clockwise and counterclockwise rotations are available with rotation angles of up to 60° for spring solenoids and up to 75° for bi-stable solenoids. A wide variety of operating voltage, angle of rotation, direction of rotation, shutter sizes and shapes are available and can be highly customized to meet the precise needs of each unique application. DACO can provide optimally paired advanced optical shutters and rotary solenoids or can provide one of those two components designed for superior performance with a customer´s unique application.

Prototype to Volume Customization

DACO is unique in the industry in providing custom shutter and rotary solenoid solutions from small batch prototyping to large volume production runs.
