The cardiac rehabilitation program at Bayshore Community Hospital is pleased to announced that it has received certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) for its strict standards of practice. The AACVPR Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Certification process is the only peer-review accreditation process and is designed to review individual facilities for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR.
The team, led by medical director Elie Younes, M.D., participated in a one-month application process, which required extensive documentation of the program's practices. Each program is reviewed by the AACVPR National Certification Committee and certification is awarded by the AACVPR board of directors.
"Bayshore is well-positioned to become a regional leader in cardiac care," says Dr. Younes. "With our ability to employ life saving techniques for patients experiencing a cardiac event faster than most hospitals in the country, our world-class cardiologists, brand new catheterization laboratory, and superior practices that are garnering recognition through certifications like this one from the AACVPR, our community can trust that if they are experiencing a heart attack, Bayshore is well equipped to provide them with extraordinary care during and after the cardiac event."
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program that includes exercise training, education on heart healthy living, and counseling for people with heart problems. The AACVPR certification is valid for three years, at which point the hospital must reapply and continue to maintain its strict practices in the field.
