Quebec City to host Conference of the Canadian Association of Wound Care

Quebec City this week hosts of one of Canada's largest health care conferences, as over 1,000 delegates meet at the annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC).

The four-day CAWC Conference brings together a broad cross-section of health-care stakeholders rarely found in one place at one time: physicians; nurses; administrators; researchers; patients; caregivers; bureaucrats; social workers; and industry representatives. The wound-care issues being discussed impact both acute and chronic care, touching virtually every facet of health - from surgical recovery to continuing care for diabetic ulcers.

This is vital in a time when resources are lacking within the Canadian health-care system," said Dr. Karen Philp, CAWC's Chief Executive Officer.

During the conference, the CAWC will announce initiatives in research, professional education, public information and advocacy. These initiatives are aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of wound-care issues, particularly as they relate to health-care policy-making and management.
