"In his State of the Union address [last] week, President Obama laid out a challenge for our generation to eradicate the scourge of extreme poverty," Lona Stoll, acting deputy coordinator for development for Feed the Future, and Jonathan Shrier, acting special representative for global food security for Feed the Future, write in the initiative's blog. They outline several ways in which the Feed the Future initiative is "advancing this critical agenda," noting, "Since 2009, Feed the Future has supported agriculture-led growth in 19 focus countries, with investments that will lift 20 percent of the people in our targeted areas out of poverty in three years" (2/15).
