Protein Metrics, Inc., a leading provider of software for rapid and thorough protein and peptide characterization, today announced the release of a freeware version of their Preview™ software for pre-search protein analysis available for download from the company's website (http://www.proteinmetrics.com/contact-us/download/)

"We are thrilled to contribute our Preview software and its capabilities to the broader the protein research community," said Chris Becker, Ph.D., President and CEO of Protein Metrics. "Preview's ability to support all types of tandem mass spectrometer data and to provide rapid results on modifications, digestion quality and mass calibration offers an unparalleled tool for all protein analysis labs. Its ability to auto-generate search parameters for subsequent full Byonic™ searches is another key capability. Often researchers are 'flying blind' when it comes to important characteristics of their sample and Preview is great at shedding light on the sample details and processing characteristics, and does so usually in just one minute."

Preview samples shotgun protein analysis data to measure mass errors, digestion specificity, and modifications for subsequent full search by Byonic™ or other proteomics search engines. Preview software can operate in stand-alone mode or as a node in Thermo Scientific's Proteome Discover™ software (versions 1.4 and 2.0).
