Regenerative Medicine wins award for best new journal

The journal Regenerative Medicine has been recognized by The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers as joint winner of the 2006 ALPSP/Charlesworth Award for Best New Journal. This prestigious international award is presented annually to the best new journal across a wide range of disciplines.

The judging panel stated that Regenerative Medicine, ‘...is eye-catching and easy to read with a clear rationale. The cover is attractive and displays the contents and other information about the journal. The paper weight is good and the page design and text clear and refreshing.’

In making their decision the judges considered the content and appearance of the printed journal and, where applicable, the relationship between the print and online version. They also took into account the aims and resources of the journal, and its intended audience.

Launched by Future Medicine in 2006, Regenerative Medicine has quickly become a premier forum for a fast growing community of specialists to address the important challenges and advances that are now occurring in stem cell research and regenerative medicine.

Available in both print and online formats, Regenerative Medicine is edited under the aegis of Professor Stephen Minger who is Director of the Stem Cell Biology Laboratory at King’s College London, UK. Professor Minger commented: “We have assembled an outstanding international group of scientists as members of the editorial board and with their help we will continue to publish the most up-to-date research, reviews, scientific and clinical meeting reports, technical updates and editorials.”

The ALPSP/Charlesworth Award for Best New Journal is open to all publishers worldwide for journals launched within the last five years. The Panel received 26 applications and were impressed with the general high standard of all journals submitted. After much discussion, the judges decided to make this year's Best New Journal Award jointly to Regenerative Medicine and the Sage journal Crime, Media, Culture.
