Indiana University School of Medicine researchers are looking for adults above the age of 55 who have difficulty sleeping and have memory loss associated with dementia or Alzheimer's disease for a clinical study of a sleep medication.
The study will evaluate whether Rozerem can reduce sleep problems in people with mild to moderate
Alzheimer's disease. Rozerem is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a sleep aid, but it has not been tested specifically in people with
Alzheimer's disease.
Study participation is about 10 weeks. During the study volunteers and their caregivers will need to visit the IU Medical Center eight times and participants will wear a sleep activity monitor called an actigraph, which is about the size of a watch and is worn on the wrist.
