Solta Medical, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLTM) today announced the launch of its new Thermage CPT(TM) system, representing a significant leap forward in skin tightening and body contouring technology. The Thermage CPT system incorporates proprietary Comfort Pulse Technology(TM) in every aspect of the system including a new ergonomic vibrating hand piece and scientifically advanced Face Tip 3.0 and Body Tip 16.0 treatment tips. The Thermage CPT system represents Solta Medical's deep commitment to deliver cutting edge, innovative products to the anti-aging market.

("Thermage utilizes best-in-class radiofrequency technology and now, with the introduction of the Thermage CPT, delivers more therapeutic heat across the treatment area, allowing for a more efficient skin tightening treatment," said Roy Geronemus, MD, director of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York and past president of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. "My patients ask for Thermage by name and it is my #1 choice for non-surgical skin tightening."

The new Thermage CPT system leverages proprietary Comfort Pulse Technology along with a new vibrating hand piece to not only enhance efficacy but greatly improve patient comfort. "My patients overwhelmingly prefer the Thermage CPT system's vibrating hand piece for non-ablative facial skin tightening," said Robert Weiss, MD, of the Maryland Laser, Skin and Vein Institute and past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. "By delivering more energy with greater comfort, I can provide a more efficacious treatment and increase overall patient satisfaction."

"This is what I have been waiting for from Thermage - advanced skin tightening and body contouring results in a procedure that is both comfortable for the patient and more user friendly for the physician," said A. Jay Burns, MD, assistant professor of plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and past president of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. "The vibrating hand piece is a leap forward in providing a more satisfying treatment experience for my patients."

The Thermage CPT(TM) system's features and benefits include:

  • Enhanced efficacy - more uniform energy delivery and greater volume of tissue reaching therapeutic temperature creates more consistent results
  • Superior patient comfort produced by Comfort Pulse Technology - new energy delivery system and vibrating hand piece vastly improves the treatment experience for patients
  • High patient satisfaction - redesigned Face Tip 3.0 and seamless integration with the Thermage Body Tip 16.0 for faster, more comfortable face and body treatments
  • Greater ease of use with a new ergonomically designed multifunctional hand piece makes the procedure more efficient for the operator

"With the new Thermage CPT system, Solta Medical continues to demonstrate our strong commitment to developing superior innovative products that increase the value of treatments for physicians and patients," said Stephen J. Fanning, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Solta Medical, Inc. "This is not just an incremental improvement - it is a step change in non-surgical anti-aging technology, allowing physicians to achieve better patient outcomes in less time and with more comfort than ever before."

I had thermage on my upper arms yesterday and felt like I was being burned alive.  I was given narcotics by mouth however they had little effect.  The face, eyes and neck didn't bother me however I had paid for my arms and did I wish I had not paid for my arms.  No one told me the burning severity I experienced.  Whatever they used it wasn't a comfort tip on my arms.
