HHS Secretary to address National Association of Community Health Centers

Published on August 23, 2009 at 3:57 AM · No Comments

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will deliver remarks at the National Association of Community Health Centers' 2009 Community Health Institute and Expo in Chicago.

Administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) at HHS, health centers deliver preventive and primary care services to patients regardless of their ability to pay; charges for services are set according to income. The Health Center system served more than 17 million medically underserved people in 2008, up from 10 million patients served in 2001.

The Obama Administration is committed to working with Congress to pass comprehensive health insurance reform this year in order to control rising health care costs, guarantee choice of doctor, and assure high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.
