ReachMD LLC and ReachMD XM Radio 160, a leading multi-media provider of advanced healthcare education and information, teamed with Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Chief Medical Editor of NBC News, and on staff in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, to present the winner of “ReachMD’s Next Top Doc” quiz show with the ReachMD $5000.00 Educational Scholarship. Dr. Snyderman will also interview the winner, Dan Henderson, on the challenges of the competition, the future of medicine, and the importance of staying connected to a clinical audience such as ReachMD.
ReachMD’s “Next Top Doc” game show featured medical students from across the country in an on-air tournament style competition that has been broadcast on ReachMD’s XM Satellite Radio Channel 160, over the last 15 weeks.
In the final round of the Next Top Doc competition, Dan Henderson bested his competition, Nina Resetkova, a 3rd year medical student and MBA candidate from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine to become ReachMD’s Next Top Doc winner. The entire series, including the National Championship Round, can be heard/downloaded at www.ReachMD.com and will be rebroadcast on the channel during the fall of 2009.
The programming and physician-led editorial team at ReachMD developed the concept for the ‘college bowl’ style quiz show and built the content for the show in support of the company’s mission to deliver world class medical education, information and communication to busy medical professionals. The contest questions covered a broad array of the demanding medical school curriculum and latest medical advances. ReachMD’s Medical and Scientific Consultant, Dr. Danny Petrasek, MD, PhD, a member of the clinical faculty at the UCLA School of Medicine, and the author of numerous research and review articles, served as the “Next Top Doc’s” host, while the studio audience is comprised of medical students and professionals. Next Top Doc was produced in cooperation with AMSA, American Medical Student Association.
