Health care reform will kill competition in most states: BestHealthcareRates.com

The following is an opinion editorial provided by BestHealthcareRates.com:

Management at BestHealthcareRates.com is astonished with the government’s claims that the health care reform that they are working hard to bring about will actually encourage competition. It is much more likely that it will kill competition in most states as the giant arrives in town and takes a portion of everybody’s business.

The government has outlined a list of reasons that different states need health care reform as they have proposed it. These reasons vary from statistics on the number of residents in the state without health insurance to the percentage of overweight children and adults living there, both being valid information for healthcare. It also cites the fact that certain states lack sufficient choice when it comes to the choosing a medical insurance provider and their reforms will fix that.

However, critics say a government run plan sets itself up to become the new monopoly in every state. Supposedly the plan is for the reforms to not damage the health insurance market, but to supplement it. Yet, if the requirements to use the government plan are open enough and the plan is comprehensive enough, many people would possibly leave their private health insurance behind for cheaper pastures elsewhere.
