CED, formerly the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (www.cednc.org), a private, nonprofit organization that promotes entrepreneurial efforts in the Triangle region of North Carolina, has announced that it will host the next installment of its popular STREAK program, to be held Thursday, Oct. 8 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

STREAK is designed to assist early-stage, high-growth life sciences and technology companies in preparing for and reaching fundraising goals through the critique of pitch presentations by a seasoned panel of investors, entrepreneurs and marketing experts.

Presenting companies include NeuroScience Pharmaceuticals (www.neurosciencepharma.com), a Research Triangle Park-based clinical stage company, and Chapel Hill-based drug developer Synereca Pharmaceuticals. Panelists include Barry Brand, CEO and director of CeNeRx BioPharma, Inc.; investor and entrepreneur Bruce Boehm; Turner Jenkins, investment analyst at Pappas Ventures; Helga Leftwich of Hutchison Law Group; Tim Trost, vice president and CFO of Argos Therapeutics, Inc.

STREAK is a closed-door session opportunity that is only available to CED members and takes place on the second Thursday afternoon of each month. Of the 12 companies selected to present before the panels, CED will select the most notable presenters to showcase at a January event. For details on entry criteria and the application process, CED members should e-mail their business plan and other relevant information to program coordinators Bob Pickens at [email protected] or Dhruv Patel at [email protected].

QUOTES:

“NeuroScience Pharmaceuticals and Synereca Pharmaceuticals both represent the kind of exciting startup companies flourishing in our local biosciences sector,” said CED president Joan Siefert Rose. “CED is delighted to share with them the opportunity to meet with the Triangle’s thought leaders in entrepreneurship.”
