Broadlane partners with Trinity Sterile to provide 22% average savings to its healthcare clients

Broadlane has delivered an average savings of 22 percent to healthcare clients by partnering with Trinity Sterile Inc., a minority business enterprise, for intravenous (IV) standard and custom start kits. The relationship has also increased Trinity Sterile’s business by more than $5 million.

The Broadlane Supplier Diversity Program proactively seeks historically underutilized businesses (HUBs) to participate in contracting opportunities and chooses to include suppliers that reflect its diverse client base. The program encourages community economic development, supports Broadlane clients’ supplier diversity purchasing goals and builds successful business relationships with HUBs. In particular, Broadlane helped one large client increase diversity supplier spending by 360 percent and $23 million in one year.

“Broadlane actively seeks diverse suppliers such as Trinity Sterile to deliver quality products and savings to our clients,” said Tom Sherry, chief operating officer, Broadlane. “We’ve had great success with utilizing minority and historically underutilized businesses for contracts. When presented to our clients for contracting decisions, these diverse suppliers offer quality products and often deliver significant savings. Doing business this way is not only the smart thing to do; it’s the right thing to do.”

Broadlane began working with Trinity Sterile in 2007 when Broadlane’s client-driven contracting process allowed clients to choose the company based on the quality of the products at the best value.

“Our strategy has been to work with the GPOs that embrace diversity and support smaller companies that can compete,” said Abrar Solatch, CEO of Trinity Sterile. “We’ve found communications to be open and most important, when price, quality and service are there, they are driving support from their membership and moving market share.”
