VisionShare, one of the nation’s largest and most secure health
information exchanges for administrative transactions, today announced
plans to expand support for the exchange of clinical transactions on its
platform and making connectivity to the Nationwide Health Information
Network (NHIN) and state and community-based Health Information
Exchanges (HIEs) available to its customers.
The VisionShare Secure Exchange Platform currently resides in
over half the hospitals in the nation. With these new exchange
capabilities and access points, VisionShare customers will be able to
quickly capitalize on national healthcare reform initiatives to improve
quality of care through more efficient information-sharing. And when the
requirements for Federal HIT-related stimulus payments have been firmly
established, VisionShare customers will be well positioned to
demonstrate meaningful use involving the exchange of administrative and
clinical transactions.
“Our goal has always been to secure and simplify health information
exchange for our customers and others,” notes VisionShare CEO, John
Feikema. “As the Nationwide Health Information Network rolls out, state
and federal agencies will establish NHIN end points. Our customers will
be able to use their VisionShare connection to securely exchange
information across the NHIN with these organizations.” Through a similar
model, Health Information Exchanges can use the VisionShare Secure
Exchange Platform to build or quickly expand their network of healthcare
providers. Feikema adds, “With thousands of healthcare providers on our
network today, we hope to help accelerate provider adoption of both the
NHIN and to local HIEs.”
