CORD:USE Cord Blood Bank awarded contract to supply blood units for the NCBI

CORD:USE Cord Blood Bank is proud to announce that the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded CORD:USE Cord Blood Bank a three-year, multi-million dollar contract to expand the supply of cord blood units for the National Cord Blood Inventory (NCBI).

The NCBI was created as part of the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005, Public Law 109-129. The goal of this legislation is to place 150,000 new high quality cord blood units into the NCBI to be made available for public use to potentially save the lives of patients in need of a transplant.
