Dossia, a leading Personal Health Record Platform provider, today announced that Vanguard Health Systems, a leading healthcare provider that joined the Dossia Founders Group in June 2009, is the second Dossia Founder to implement and offer the Dossia Personal Health Record to its employees.

“We are very excited to partner with Vanguard to empower its employees to make better health and healthcare decisions.”

Vanguard reported that the company has offered Dossia to a select group of employees, but plans to make the Personal Health Record available to the larger Vanguard employee population before the end of the year. With the Dossia Personal Health Record, employers are able to provide their employees with the tools necessary to make good health decisions and to take action to improve their health and healthcare. Dossia further enables employers to cost-effectively deliver a variety of employee benefits and wellness initiatives. Vanguard also announced future plans to offer the Dossia Personal Health Record to patients who attend one of its 15 acute care hospitals and complementary facilities. Vanguard’s deployment of the Dossia Personal Health Record Platform follows Walmart’s inaugural roll-out to thousands of Walmart associates last year.

“I am very pleased that Vanguard is able to offer the Dossia Personal Health Record to our employees,” said Vanguard Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation and Chief Transformation Officer Brad Perkins M.D.. “We see Dossia as an integral component of our efforts to innovate and change healthcare for the better. Real change will only come once individuals have access to and control over their information.”

“Employee wellness is an area where employers and employees agree- it benefits both parties tremendously. Healthy and happy employees are more productive and will spend less on healthcare. What Dossia offers is a platform for launching wellness capabilities to large companies, such as Vanguard, who will be able to derive better value from their existing wellness programs,” said Colin Evans, President and CEO of Dossia. “We are very excited to partner with Vanguard to empower its employees to make better health and healthcare decisions.”

Dossia currently has plans in place to deploy the Dossia solution to the other Dossia Founders within 2010. Upon deployment, Dossia Founders will be able to connect their employees to their health information, enabling them to become agents for change in their own lives.
