Axis Three (www.axisthree.com), the leader and pioneer of 3D surgical simulation tools for aesthetic consultations, today announced the availability of its new XS-400 scanner, a turnkey system designed to address face, breast, and body procedures. The only 4-position 3D scanner on the market, the elegant XS-400 captures anatomically-accurate, 3D images of a patient's face or body, and serves as a vehicle to extend Axis Three's unrivaled simulation platform to an even broader range of cosmetic procedures. The hardware and software package enables surgeons and their staff to show patients how they will look post-surgery, using 3D simulation to dramatically enhance the aesthetic consultation experience.

“Our team of 3D experts is constantly innovating as demand for preoperative simulations grows”

Designed to support Axis Three's current software modules and future development application roadmap, the XS-400 features Color Coded Triangulation (CCTTM), a patented capture technology developed in conjunction with Siemens that delivers the industry's only spatially aware 3D images, yielding highly precise images of a patient's body with just one click of the mouse. Combined with Axis Three's scientifically-proven Tissue Behavior Simulation (TBSTM) engine, the result is the most robust system available for 3D simulations. This intuitive solution gives surgeons the maximum flexibility, allowing them to deliver the benefits of 3D simulation to patients considering a variety of aesthetic procedures.

"Our team of 3D experts is constantly innovating as demand for preoperative simulations grows," said Paul Moffett, Co-founder and Technical Director for Axis Three. "We know surgeons need incredibly sophisticated technology that is simple and intuitive to use and this is exactly why we're introducing the XS-400. With streamlined features, sleek aesthetics, and highly accurate image capture, the system complements the consultation process and brings a new dimension to the patient experience."

For years, plastic and cosmetic surgeons have used Axis Three's real-time simulations to show patients the surgical outcome during the consultation. The company delivers the most advanced science-based breast module available, which shows up to six comparison views on one screen and depicts implant position both above and under the muscle. Axis Three's physics-based TBSTM algorithm also generates incredibly accurate, science-based simulations by enabling tissue to respond to the specific implant's placement shape and composition.

Now running version 2.4 of Axis Three's software, the XS-400 scanner is currently available. Its hardware can address the full suite of 3D image capture available for face and breast procedures. Visit booth 922 at THE Aesthetic Show 2010 for a live demo of the XS-400. Additional XS-400 features include:

  • 4 imaging heads utilizing 48MP of data; enables unparalleled detail of any part of the patient's body or face, including ptotic breast and under chin, areas that were previously difficult to image properly
  • Optimized image processing, yielding capture to image times of less than 90 seconds
  • Spatial awareness: the camera automatically finds the proper height and placement when a patient returns for postoperative scans, regardless of her exact positioning, resulting in maximum accuracy and repeatability and better control of inter-user variability
  • Large-panel back lighting, yielding truer skin tones
  • Elegant aesthetic design, which creates a soothing visual experience for the patient and complements an aesthetic practice's environment
  • Ability to integrate seamlessly with an office's existing network infrastructure, offering flexibility for the consultation process
  • Axis Three's unique consultative training and support, including ongoing upgrades and overnight replacement of parts
  • Preloaded Axis Three simulation software, shipped as a turnkey system with an embedded PC
