IDC (Imaging Dynamics Company Ltd.) (TSX: IDL), today announced that it has signed an agreement with Merge Healthcare Inc. to provide their ProPlanner(TM) software package to IDC's growing number of Orthopaedic digital radiography (DR) customers.

Utilizing the digital X-ray image captured on the Orthopaedic facility's IDC DR solution, the Merge ProPlanner suite provides the Orthopaedic Surgeon with the speed, efficiency and ease-of-use to understand and diagnose the patient's condition, and plan corrective surgery. The ProPlanner suite also provides the ability to accurately and quickly stitch a series of radiographic images for long leg and scoliosis studies. In addition, ProPlanner provides access to one of the largest implant libraries which allows the Orthopaedic Surgeon to easily access and accurately pre-operatively size the necessary implant to streamline the process and decrease patient surgery wait-times.

"We are very pleased to partner with IDC on this endeavour to provide the ProPlanner software to this specialized and valued segment of IDC customers," states Justin Dearborn, CEO of Merge Healthcare. "Merge is focused on enabling healthcare facilities around the world to improve imaging and information workflow with the implementation of our suite of software solutions."

According to the 2009 report on the Orthopaedic Global Market issued by Epsicom, 'Growth of the orthopaedic market continues to be fuelled by a number of factors, including the aging population, the uptake of orthopaedic surgery at an earlier age, physiological problems due to the increasing incidence of obesity, the development of better and longer-lasting implants and materials, as well as new procedures, in particular, minimally-invasive procedures. Long-term social and demographic trends will underpin the sector's commercial success for many years.'

"The addition of the ProPlanner software adds to the strength of the IDC value proposition. The number of orthopaedic-based DR customers has risen dramatically in the past few years as more focus is placed on this specialized market segment," states Michelle Naismith, Marketing Manager for IDC. "By enabling the orthopaedic surgeon to access the IDC high resolution DR images at their convenience this eliminates interruption to the workflow of the radiographic room and provides increased patient throughput for the practice."
