Global Fund releases mid-year results for HIV, TB, malaria

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria announced mid-year results for HIV and TB treatment as well as for insecticide-treated net (ITN) distribution, Sify News reports. According to the report, by mid-2010 Global Fund-financed programs have:

  • Provided antiretrovirals to 2.8 million people with HIV/AIDS, a 22% increase over mid-2009;
  • Treated 7 million people for tuberculosis, a 30% increase over mid-2009; and
  • Distributed 122 million ITNs to prevent malaria infection, a 39% increase over mid-2009 (6/9).
