NewsGuard 100/100 Score

HCL Infosystems, India's premier information technology company and Wellogic, a renowned healthcare interoperability and point-of-care solutions provider, today announced that they are working together to create India's National Health Information Exchange Environment (INHIEE), and seeding adoption via Wellogic's world-class portal, electronic health record (EHR), and personal health record (PHR) solutions. The INHIEE initiative will accelerate adoption and integration of health care information technology across the country, and positively impact efficiency, timeliness, quality, and cost of care delivered by the nation's health care providers.

The INHIEE will connect systems inside and between health care organizations and their trading partners such as laboratories, imaging centers, and pharmacies. It will create "one patient one record" across connected systems from numerous vendors, and allow anytime-anywhere access to such records by authorized users and patients. Once established, the INHIEE will become ubiquitous in supporting care delivery and transactions for the nation's patients, providers, payers, trading partners, and other stakeholders.

Highlights

  • The Environment will provide a multi-tenant interoperable computing environment for healthcare delivery and collaboration
  • The patient and provider tools will enable easy, secure, cost effective, and anytime-anywhere access to "one-patient-one-record"
  • The exchange will foster efficiency via standards-based healthcare transactions
  • The environment will improve safety and care quality by timely availability of patient data and evidence-based support
  • De-identified data will enable population based analytics and support public health initiatives

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. George Paul, Executive Vice-President, HCL Infosystems said, "Information and communication technology has revolutionized the way healthcare information is documented, archived and retrieved. The new healthcare solution is meant to accelerate the adoption and integration of healthcare information technology across the country and enhance technical efficiency, clinical effectiveness, and quality in the delivery of care. Given HCL Infosystems' leadership and understanding of the Indian market along with Wellogic's unique success with usability and interoperability, I am confident that this accord will represent a key milestone in the Indian healthcare arena."

"Wellogic is proud to have been chosen by HCL Infosystems as their strategic partner for this major initiative that will substantially improve communication and collaboration between consumers, care providers, and other key participants in India's healthcare ecosystem," said Mr. Sumit Nagpal, founder, President and CEO of Wellogic. "We have a common goal and commitment to make care delivery safer and more cost effective. Partnering with HCL Infosystems is an ideal way for us to provide our rich solutions and their benefits to the Indian market in a manner that scales as the country accelerates its economic growth and innovation."

By leveraging interoperability standards from the federally sponsored National Health Information Network (NHIN) in the United States, and learning from experiences worldwide, the INHIEE will propel Indian health care to benefit from HIT innovations from across the globe, leapfrog their infrastructures, and allow health information interoperability to cross national borders. The affordability, reliability, and security of the services, and the acclaimed usability of the Wellogic software will help foster rapid adoption. Given the scope of the initiative, the INHIEE will also showcase the scalability of Wellogic's technology across multiple communities connected across a nation.
