BIOTRONIK SE & Co. KG, has achieved another milestone confirming yet again that it is the industry-leading pioneer in wireless remote monitoring technology for patients with cardiac devices, having yesterday received the first-ever Cardiostim Innovation Award.

“BIOTRONIK is honored to receive this outstanding recognition from the physician community, which emphasizes that our continuing developments with Home Monitoring have kept this technology at the forefront of innovation in our industry”

Cardiostim is a global scientific congress in the field of electrophysiology and cardiac techniques gathering more than 5,000 scientists, including those most distinguished in the world. This year marks the first for the Cardiostim Innovation Award, the winner of which having been determined by a vote of the delegates on several nominated technologies, to select those considered to be the most significant innovations.

"BIOTRONIK is honored to receive this outstanding recognition from the physician community, which emphasizes that our continuing developments with Home Monitoring have kept this technology at the forefront of innovation in our industry," said Marlou Janssen, Global Vice President of Marketing & Sales at BIOTRONIK. "It was ten years ago at the Cardiostim meeting that our founder, Professor Max Schaldach, introduced the first Home Monitoring system and his vision for the future of advanced patient management. We are proud to have successfully continued in the tradition he established for BIOTRONIK, and to gain the first-place ranking with this award."

Home Monitoring is an internet-based, automatic remote monitoring system that uses the cellular phone network to enable physicians to remotely monitor their patients' clinical status and their device status no matter where they happen to be. Home Monitoring is still considered a leading innovation even after being the first remote monitoring technology available ten years ago, because BIOTRONIK has continuously developed revolutionary enhancements ahead of competitors, including the unique advantages of enabling early detection of worsening disease condition and the only FDA and CE approved indications for conducting remote follow up. BIOTRONIK adds this award to a growing collection of important recognitions for Home Monitoring such as the nomination for the prestigious Deutscher Zukunft Preis (German Innovation Award) in 2009.
