Wellpartner, a nationally recognized provider of pharmacy distribution and contract pharmacy services, today announced the addition of La Clínica de La Raza in Oakland, CA, to its rapidly expanding list of community health organization clients. Working with Wellpartner, La Clínica has chosen Safeway as its retail pharmacy partner for this program.
“We're proud that La Clínica chose Wellpartner to administer its 340B program”
Together, La Clínica and Safeway will provide patients served by its Vallejo clinics access to low-cost medications using Wellpartner's 340B Access Solution™. The program enables select Safeway pharmacies to dispense medications to La Clinica patients at deeply discounted prices.
"We're proud that La Clínica chose Wellpartner to administer its 340B program," said Michael Wright, Wellpartner President and CEO. "The 340B Access Solution is designed to allow our clients to significantly increase patient access to affordable medications."
"Wellpartner allows us to expand the level of pharmacy care we provide our patients," said Jane García, Chief Executive Officer, La Clinica de La Raza. "It lets us create a true partnership with local pharmacies that helps us bring down the cost of prescription medicine for those who need it most."
La Clínica is one of the largest community-based health clinics in California and provides care for more than 61,000 patients at 25 sites across Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
The 340B Drug Discount Program was created to help vulnerable patients of safety-net healthcare providers get the medications they need at prices they can afford; this program offers discounts of up to 51% below prevailing retail prices. The U.S. health care safety-net includes Federally Qualified Health Centers along with other qualified providers and serves more than 17 million people in more than 6,000 facilities each year.
