MN HIE to conduct pilot project with Aging Services of Minnesota

The Minnesota Health Information Exchange (MN HIE) will conduct a pilot project with Aging Services of Minnesota at 12 of their member settings. This select group of care centers and assisted-living providers will use MN HIE's stand alone web services to view long term care patient's clinical information.

"Aging Services of Minnesota is continually looking for ways that technology can support the needs of our Minnesota seniors. MN HIE is a cost-effective way to introduce the exchange of clinical information to our members," stated Lori Meyer, Senior Vice President, Aging Services of Minnesota.

"Providers at long term care facilities need access to a patient's clinical history in order to provide complete care. MN HIE will be working closely with Aging Services to understand how MN HIE's services can be a benefit to providers in these settings and what additional services are needed for providers in giving the best care to Minnesota's seniors," said Michael Ubl, MN HIE Executive Director.

MN HIE allows providers to view a patient's clinical information that includes medication history, eligibility information, lab history, immunization history, and clinical care documents.

Over 4.2 million Minnesota residents are currently represented in the MN HIE secure patient directory, allowing participating providers to exchange important clinical and administrative information not previously or readily available. This improves coordination of care and patient management.
