Zynx Health, the market leader in providing evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support solutions, today announced the successful implementation of ZynxOrder evidence-based order sets into the Riverside Health System electronic health record (EHR) system. Integration took place at the full hospital system consisting of Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Riverside Tappahannock Hospital and Riverside Regional Medical Center, facilitating standardization and increasing the efficiency of care while also enabling Riverside Health System to comply with "meaningful use" of EHR as established in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

“We needed a system that could work within our clinical infrastructure by supporting order sets in real-time at the bedside”

In 2005 Riverside Health System partnered with Zynx Health and leveraged ZynxOrder evidence-based order set templates to facilitate the standardization of their existing order sets. The facilities used the Zynx Health content management system and online collaboration tool to expedite the process of customizing the order set templates, soliciting and incorporating feedback and releasing and maintaining organization-wide order sets. Released as interactive PDF files available for use on their intranet, Riverside Health System gained physician adoption and effectiveness while the medical center prepared to go live with their CPOE system. Riverside Health System successfully went live with CPOE in November 2009 and, having already built the order sets using the Zynx Health online tools, was able to rapidly integrate the 177 standardized evidence-based order sets. This integration will facilitate the access of evidence at the bedside and improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.

"We needed a system that could work within our clinical infrastructure by supporting order sets in real-time at the bedside," said Dr. Christopher Stolle, vice president of medical affairs at Riverside Regional Medical Center. "Our physicians are now equipped with 177 evidence-based order sets that will provide more efficient care resulting in improved outcomes for our patients. We are thrilled with the seamless integration of ZynxOrder as well as the foreseen benefit of increased workflow among our clinicians."

"We feel privileged to have supported Riverside Health System on their path to evidence-based care," said Greg Dorn, MD, the executive vice president and COO of Zynx Health. "This is a huge hurdle that Riverside Health System has successfully overcome and is one of the many steps in the journey towards meaningful use of EHR."
