Foundation Surgical Hospital (FSH) has selected Healthcare Management Systems, Inc.® (HMS) to provide a full suite of integrated clinical and financial information system applications for the 64-bed orthopedic and neuro-spine facility, located in the Greater Houston market.

“HMS will work as the hospital's partner to prepare the staff for a smooth transition and make the system productive for their special needs.”

The HMS system is an enterprise-wide technology solution implemented in more than 650 community hospitals and specialty care facilities across the United States and Puerto Rico. George Walker, chief operating officer of FSH, said HMS offered the hospital several advantages.

"We were looking for a stable platform that would be implemented correctly," he said. "We're transitioning from a system with multiple problems, and with HMS we don't expect any surprises. HMS communicated an organization-wide commitment, from the CEO down, to making their system work for us."

The robust system integration for surgery and the financial reporting capabilities also were important criteria to the FSH management and physician owners, who were involved in the selection process, Walker said.

"We are delighted to bring Foundation Surgical on board as an HMS customer," said Tom Stephenson, chief executive officer of HMS. "HMS will work as the hospital's partner to prepare the staff for a smooth transition and make the system productive for their special needs."
