MedAssurant, Inc., a leading provider of data-driven healthcare solutions, today announced that Sterling Health Plans, a national provider of Medicare benefits, has expanded its relationship with MedAssurant through the selection of two key solutions to identify and close meaningful gaps in quality, utilization, documentation, and risk score accuracy.

Through the selection of Prospective Advantage, Sterling will gain the benefit of the industry's largest healthcare data superset and associated clinical data analytics to empower highly focused patient and provider encounter facilitation and support. Armed with the identification of high-value gaps in member assessment, documentation, and care, the solution is able to close these gaps, and achieve high-value improvements in quality results, risk score accuracy, and utilization cost efficiency.

Also selected by Sterling is MedAssurant's industry-leading Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) Quality Outcomes Measurement solution. The service, part of MedAssurant's Complete Quality Management (CQM™) solution focused on CMS Star Ratings, delivers a comprehensive, turnkey solution that enables both national and regional health plans to effectively and efficiently outsource and oversee their National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) HEDIS measurement and reporting processes.

"MedAssurant's HEDIS Quality Outcomes Measurement and Prospective Advantage solutions are unique  resources that will help us to efficiently and effectively integrate clinical and quality data to best evaluate performance and to identify the situations where improvement is needed," said Dr. Laura King, national medical director at Sterling Health Plans. "In particular, Prospective Advantage offers multiple benefits through the implementation of a patient-specific approach to assessment and care coordination support.  We have seen the benefits that data can bring in the improvement of our members' care and the efficiency of Sterling's performance. We are pleased to add Prospective Advantage and the HEDIS quality outcomes solutions of MedAssurant as part of our ever-present focus on improving the quality of healthcare throughout the nation."

Keith Dunleavy, M.D., president and CEO of MedAssurant, said, "The increasing importance of clinical and quality outcomes has made accurate and timely measurement systems critical for the evaluation of performance. Through Prospective Advantage and HEDIS Quality Outcomes Measurement, MedAssurant provides Sterling Health Plans with an integrated product suite to effectively evaluate and positively impact quality, care management, and risk score accuracy.  We are pleased that, through the deepening of MedAssurant's relationship with Sterling, together we are further able to drive meaningful improvement and value realization in healthcare."

The implementation of Prospective Advantage and the NCQA certified HEDIS clinical and quality outcomes measurement solutions is an expansion of the MedAssurant and Sterling Health Plans relationship, which dates back to 2006 when MedAssurant began coordinating data accuracy, risk adjustment, and claims analytics solutions in all states in which Sterling operates.
