A.D.A.M., Inc. (Nasdaq: ADAM), a leading provider of health information and benefits technology solutions, announced today the launch of an innovative iPhone application called Health@Hand in partnership with Highmark Inc., a Pennsylvania-based health insurer. Developed by A.D.A.M. and adapted for Highmark, Health@Hand is available to Highmark health plan members via download in the iTunes store. This innovative mobile application lets health plan members connect to first aid information, health articles, local healthcare providers and facilities, and discounts on healthcare services right from their iPhone.

“Today we need to adapt to the way our members find health information, making it faster, easier and more intuitive for them to connect to healthcare services”

Health@Hand was built with information that is specific to Highmark members, so they can access healthcare services and physicians available within their plan. Using their phone's GPS, search results are provided within a specific mile radius of their current location, or a selected zip code. Users can also find physicians in specific specialties, or locate physicians by name. Upon finding the healthcare facility or physician, the app provides a map of their location and the ability to connect via phone right from the iPhone.

The intuitively designed app also gives members immediate access to thousands of health topics, such as first aid information covering emergencies, bites and stings, minor injuries and poisonings. Users can search health information by topic or by specific symptoms with the A.D.A.M. Symptom Navigator, which allows people to search symptoms simply by touching a part of the body. With just a tap or a swipe, the Symptom Navigator view can be changed for gender and age, and show relevant symptom results for each.

"Mobile technologies are one of the fastest growing areas of healthcare technology today," said Mark Adams, president and chief executive officer at A.D.A.M. "Our company is committed to building innovative products that not only connect consumers to health information, but give them the tools to make better healthcare decisions, and the ability to connect to the healthcare resources that are right for them. With a new emphasis on transparency in healthcare, mHealth applications like Health@Hand are among those leading the way in connecting consumers, health plans and healthcare organizations."

"Today we need to adapt to the way our members find health information, making it faster, easier and more intuitive for them to connect to healthcare services," said Matthew Childs, Highmark web strategy and development vice president. "Highmark is committed to providing information in the most efficient way possible to our members, which ultimately helps them have a greater hand in their health."

The Health@Hand app can be downloaded today from the iTunes store at www.apple.com/itunes. Once downloaded, Highmark health plan members will be required to enter a special ID number available on the Highmark member websites to activate the application. Non-Highmark members can download A.D.A.M.'s version of the product, Medzio, from the iTunes store.
